The Dixon Family Reunion, July 23, 2011

Carolyn and Tommy always have a 4th of July party. All of us are invited to this every year. Tommy is a fantastic chef with the bar-b-cue that he prepares each year. I am sure he could win the Memphis in May contest if he ever decided to enter.

This year David William made a trip back here to get his son, David, Jr. (Davy or "D") set up to go to college in August at Harding University in Searcy, AR. He hadn't been in for five years, so we all wanted to get together to see him. So....... Carolyn and Tommy, being the gracious hosts that they are, had another huge bar-b-cue at their house, and those of us who could made it down for a reunion.

From left to right....Kalie (Linda Carol's granddaughter), Linda Carol, "D" (David's son), David William, Carolyn, Pee Wee, Violet, Harold Lee, Micah, Tommy, and Dixon.

Violet and Carolyn Sue: Best girlfriends forever

David's RV parked next to Tommy and Carolyn's house.

Tommy's army transport truck. They have a big weinie roast at the back pond every October and use this and the John Deere train to haul people back there.
This past October the party was celebrating Tommy's retirement.

"D" and Zach (Micah's son) just waiting for lunch to be served.

Great reader! Great smile! Great kid!

Just hanging around

Linda Carol, Mike Musick (a friend from high school in Portageville), David, and "D"

Autumn Mallory and Zachary Morgan Casey (Micah and Patrick's children)

I'm like Minnie Pearl...."Just so proud to be here."

Tommy is always the leader and makes sure everyone has a great time.

What a nice set-up! Tommy restores old John Deere tractors.

"I must relax before I start college."

Tommy made a zip-line for everyone to enjoy who is brave enough to try.

Like father, like son.

Tommy is the pro, of course.

I'm out of focus, but I wanted proof for posterity.

Caleb liked it quite a lot, also.
Also, like father, like son.

The Caleb Dixon Family

Whenever I go visit, we usually do something really interesting. This is in front of the restaurant on the Barbara Mandrell Estate. Her log cabin house is the largest in the US, maybe the world: 27,000 sq. ft. Caleb and Cherie don't live on a farm, but they do buy fresh produce from a farm in the Cumberland River valley not far from their house. Does that tractor look familiar to anyone?
Daddy might be a little proud here.
This is from Brady's 18 month old photo shoot.
Brady is really that happy all the time...well, almost all the time.
You can tell Papie is a little proud also. Lots of fun. I get to be a kid again.
Brady is just like Caleb at that age. Always wanting to read a book. How wonderful!
Three generations of oldest sons. Dorothy and Virgie were the oldest in their families also. I don't know about James Henry Weaver or Nanny Crouse. Somebody help me.
What a good-looking couple!!!

Caleb and Cherie and Brady live in Nashville, Tennessee, which is closer to the old Dixon place than anyone else lives right now. Caleb works for Vanguard Health Systems based in Nashville, but he does travel to Chicago, Phoenix, and San Antonio for business from time to time. Cherie is fortunate enough right now to be a stay-at-home mom. Of course, Brady is just busy being a boy.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Granny Virgie's Dining Room

How many wonderful times did we spend in this narrow, little dining room which I think originally was part of the back porch? It slanted and everything. I remember finding the doughnut box on the freezer in the mornings.

But the lunches and the special dinners were always great family times together.

Ooops! Left this one out.

Uncle Dave with just a few of his nieces and nephews.

Guess who?
