  1. I love seeing old homesteads; and you're right--the house is reminiscent of the Waltons!

  2. Hi, I am researching my family geneology, and I've stumbled across your family tree for the Dixon's. My mother is a Dixon. I have all of the exact same information that you have from Obidiah all the way up to Wallace Dixon Jr. From what I have, he had three children - Emily, William, and Wallace 3rd. Wallace 3rd is my Great Great Grandfather. Does that mean that William T. Dixon married Lucretia Finch? If so, then I suppose that is where we split up on our trees. I would be more than happy to offer any information from Wallace 3rd to the present if you are interested. Just let me know. Great job tracing this back. It really reaffirmed to me that what my Great Aunt left me was accurate. Great pictures of the farm also. So Wallace Sr. and Jr. lived there?

  4. Hello,
My Dixon descent is through Wallace's daughter Sallie B. Dixon. One correction to your information: Sallie Brady Dixon married (1)John Henry Hawkins; they had 7 children. After John died, Sallie married LeRoy Pulley, or "Mr. Lee" as he was known to her children and grandchildren. Sallie and Lee did not have any children that I know of.

I see that you have some pictures of the headstones from the Dixon cemetery. I have been trying to get someone to take a picture for me for a very long time when I happened across your blog. With your permission, I would like to use the pictures and place them on the memorials I have created for our folks on the Find-A-Grave website. I would give credit to whosoever took the pictures on the site. Please email me at dawnmist723@gmail.com if this is alright.

Also, do you have any papers that show how our original Wallace became a colonel? I have been looking for his service record for the War of 1812 for a long time, but have never been able to find it. If you have this information, or can point me in the direction to get it, I would be grateful.

Also, one last question: your information on Benjamin, can you tell me what papers you have that he served in the War of 1812 and was in Russellville, KY with Wallace? Because I have a copy of a will that I was able to get for my mother when I took a trip to Caroline Co, MD that stated Benjamin died before Wallace was of age, well before 1812, and the minor child Wallace was left with Benjamin's sister Sarah. Apparently, Benjamin's wife had died prior to his death, since she was not named in his will. Since this was the only Benjamin I could find that corresponded with the correct time frame in Caroline Co, Maryland, I assumed that this was our Benjamin. If you have some other evidence you are working with, I would love to see it. I have been trying to verify and confirm the family lore, trying to prove it up to the point that all of Wallace's descendents could be considered for DAR and SAR admission. I am also working on that same aspect through the Brady line; Eliza's father Hugh and his father Joseph may have both served in the Revolutionary War as Pennsylvania sharpshooters. I hope to get to Harrisburg soon on a trip to check the state archives there for information.

It is nice to be able to contact other family members who are interested in our family stories and genealogy. Once again, my email address is dawnmist723@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you.

    1. I am the grandaughter of William Solomon Dixon, son of Thomas Yeatman Dixon and Mary Raimey. I am trying to piece together more family history. All I have is a family tree that my cousin obtained years ago for her DAR membership. It goes as follows:
Obidah Dixon...Benjamin Dixon...Wallace Dixon, Sr....Thomas Yateman Dixon...William Solomon Dixon. My mother is William Solomon Dixon's daughter. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated.
